Reading reflection of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian 1

My first impression to this book is funny and easy reading. I love Sherman Alexie's writing style. He really gives me a good time when I taking the bus to school. I finish a half of the book.
Sherman Alexie create a Indian boy named Junior and start to uses a comfy way to expound the painful and helpless life that Junior has. I think Junior may be himself, since he is also an Indian. Junior is a weird boy since he was a baby. He has some brain problem and that makes him looks really strange. I think this is a piece of information that forecast us to believe he will became the only the "weird" person that goes out of the rez.

  1. Hi Sherry,

I'm glad you like Sherman Alexie's writing, he is very accessible and a wonderful writer!

While I am looking forward to learning with everyone and hearing from various perspectives, it will also be interesting to hear from you and other International Students.

I think a lot of Alexie's work has some element of autobiogrqaphy, as you note (some say all writers write about themselves in one form or another). I'm not completely sure what you mean by "weird", yet I guess in the context you are talking about it just means someone who doesn't fit in with the people around them.

  2. This reading is the one I enjoyed most, which is from a very special lens to describe a Native American boy who lived in the white people's world. The difficulties are not the reason for him to step back. He finally tried to get higher education and really got succeed on that makes me feel really admire.
